Creative Women Mini-Con (Review)

Had a blast last Saturday 9/20 at Creative Women Mini-Con at Empire’s Comics Vault, a celebration of Sacramento women in the arts!

It was such a treat being able to hang out all day, chatting with new faces and all the creative ladies exhibiting. I must say, the local response was truly heartwarming when I saw people lined up on the sidewalk waiting for the event to start. Thank you to those of you who were able to come out and show your support for the enthusiasm you give me in what I do. I really can’t tell you what it means to know we indie female artists have such amazing cheerleaders backing us up. <3

One of those cheerleaders is actually the owner of Empire’s, comic creator Ben Schwartz. Not only does Ben do everything he can to give back to the comic community and support local events, he’s also a comic writer himself with many indie titles to his name published through his own ECV Press (Trixie Dynamite and Union St. Choir are two of my favorites). It’s easy to be a fan of both Ben’s work and his amazing, family-friendly shop. I only hope I’ll be able to return for next year’s Creative Women Mini-Con. Very excited to see this event continue to grow.
